Dear Family and Friends,
On October 14th, I am participating in my third one-day fitness fundraiser called CF|24, with Pure Grit CrossFit. We will be completing one workout per hour for 24 hours, and all funds raised will be donated to Special Olympics Canada Foundation.
Special Olympics was founded upon one simple notion: sport has the incredible capacity to transform lives, change attitudes, and make communities stronger by supporting Canadians with an intellectual disability. By bringing people together, Special Olympics teaches us to recognize our similarities rather than focusing on our differences.
My uncle Robbie Lewis is a multi-medal-winning Ontario Special Olympian who rocks the snowy trails with his cross-country skiing skills every year. Robbie doesn’t take rest days and he never ever complains that he’s sore, he’s tired, it’s cold, or he’d just rather not bother. He, like the other athletes he competes with, are insanely inspiring. The amazing Pure Grit athletes and I participating on October 14th want to ensure that we support the continuation of their efforts with donations from our event. No matter how sore we are, how tired we are, how cold it is, or how much we feel like we’d rather not bother, we will persevere…because Robbie sure as hell would!
